By 11 o’clock the following morning, after eleven gruelling tension-filled frames, it was all over for the out-going champion. And by the end of round one, three former World champions were also out of the running.
All the suspense and mounting excitement of this spectacular three-week event are captured here — century breaks, brilliant potting, the controversy and humour, culminating in a triumphant climax for Alex ‘Hurricane’ Higgins who walked away the proud winner of an outstanding series.
