  1. But he’s keeping them separated by 1 mm. It’s so easy to overhit those shots. Judging it so perfectly for so long is amazing.

  2. The good billiards players were so good that they had to introduce rules to make it harder. One rule was the indirect rule — every 50 points (I think) the cue ball had to make the cannon off a cushion instead of directly. There was also a rule that the cue ball had to cross the baulk line once every 200 (I think) points.

  3. I think it maybe because he could hit both balls at the same time, which would be a foul…… i think, maybe wrong. if you’ve found out do enlighten me!!

  4. for the information of any muppets the nursery cannon is one of the toughest techniques in cue sports big full stop. they had to ban it mainly because of this guy.

  5. If you don’t understand it, then don’t comment.

Great to see this on YouTube!

  6. I wonder why the referee said, “Indirect Sir”? Anybody out there know? I KNOW it refers to the hit but I wonder why a deflection off a cushion/rail should be any different to a direct hit. Talk about a genius with a cue though. I don’t think we’ll ever see the likes of Lindrum again. The game hardly exists these days anyway and is becoming a dying art. It’s all ‘bang-bang-bang’ of snooker and 9-ball (pool). No subtlety anymore – no FINESSE.

  7. Er? You think so? Ever TRIED it? Please don’t make such moronic comments until you have!

  8. You must be kidding me, look what he’s doing just hitting the balls separated by 1mm

  9. heh, that is actually a million times more difficult than what it looks like 🙂

  10. err? What the fuck.. even a 5 year old child can do what he’s doing.

  11. I love the way that the referee folds his arms by the time he gets to 8… as though he knows a 2 times table recital is about to be needed. He looks thoroughly bored before he even gets to double figures!

  12. This is good, u cant beat old vintiage snooker!

  13. no other professional player at billiards or snooker has ever played billiards to the standard of Walter Lindrum! even against the top players of the day he use to give a start of 6000 to 7000 over a 2 week game and was very rarely beat

  14. It seems a pity to me that Billiards over the years has lost its public interest in favour of Snooker.

    I ask you:

Can these present day Snooker Professionals also play Billiards like this? (as indeed Joe Davis once did)?

  15. Spot on that Frankie lad. He was some boy wasn’t he…!

  16. i jonny someone took a shot at him and it still didnt put him off

  17. also at 1:22 does sum1 get shot?

  18. ur better frankie u keep billiards alive in the club

  19. i think what the ref was refering to was that after so many shots (i think its 25) the canon has to be made indirect ie (striking the cushion first) and he was just stateing that Walter had played an indirect canon

  20. During the break, what did the Referee mean when he said “72, indirect Sir”?

I would really like to know.

  21. canni vid frankie lad

  22. Great clip, I think the word ‘Genius’ would be a worthy word to describe this man.
