How can you say english doesn’t affect the path of the object ball? It indeed does. It’s called throw, and if not compensated for you can miss a shot when using it. Level cue or not, it can also affect the path of the cue ball before contact. If you go more than a full tip off center to say the left, the cue ball, even if slight, will deflect to the right and imperceptably curve back to the left. Not nessesarily noticable to the naked eye, but if not compensated for can cause a missed shot.
